Ben was born and raised in Grand Cane, Louisiana, and later attended Waskom High School in Waskom, Texas, where he proudly played on the football team. He went on to serve his country as a missile crewman in the U.S. Army, earning the National Defense Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
