J.M. White Funeral Home & Cremations - HendersonMIDDLEBURG – Benjamin Franklin “Frank” Edwards, 88, passed away Sunday October 26, 2025 at Whitmore Retirement Center in Oxford. Born December 7, 1936 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late Hill Thomas and Lillian Jackson Edwards and the widower of Vivian Mann Edwards. He was a member of St John’s Episcopal Church and was a founding and lifelong member of the Buck Only Hunting Club, and was an avid deer hunter. Frank retired after 29 years from Hendrick Motorsports and took great pride in his career, and that he had been one of the original team members. He was well known for his early racing career as builder and car owner of the gold and black “98” modified and late model sportsman race cars that he successfully raced up and down the east coast. Frank treasured his family and friends and was known for being friendly and always willing to help anyone.
A graveside service will be held Saturday November 8, 2025 at 2:30 PM at Middleburg Cemetery by Rev. Norma Roberts.
He is survived by two daughters, Cheryl E. Neville and husband Nick of Henderson, and Leigh Ann Edwards of Middleburg; his fiancée Patsy Newman of Henderson; one sister, Mary E. Wynne of Henderson; and many beloved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife of 50 years and parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Franklin Keith Edwards; two brothers, Willard Thomas Edwards, and Joseph Hill Edwards; four sisters, Mary Alice E. Harper, Othela E. Moody, Eva E. Elmore, and Sylvia E. Goss.
The family will receive friends Saturday November 8, 2025 from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at J. M. White Funeral Home and following the service at Middleburg Cemetery. At other times beginning Wednesday November 5, 2025 they will be at the home, 195 Walnut St. Middleburg, NC 27556.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Whitmore Retirement Center in Oxford for their caring and compassionate care of Frank.
