Benjamin Perry Gougeon, born April 28, 1977 to June 21, 2024, passed away unexpectedly. The beloved son of Janet and the late Meade Gougeon. He was born in Bay City, Michigan and lived there most of his life. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp. He saw combat in the Iraq Conflict.
He was a well-known great lakes sailor. He sailed in many Port Huron to Mackinac races, carrying on his father’s tradition in the family sailboat “ADAGIO”. He graduated from John Glenn High school and attended Northwood University and Michigan State.
Benjamin is survived by his beloved children, Benjamin M. Gougeon, Remington Knox Gougeon and Bellamy Clover Gougeon; his mother, Janet Gougeon; his four sisters, Anne (Randy) Mortensen, Laura Gougeon (fiancé Karl Wiegand), Renee (Alan) Gurski and Mia (Kwafo) Adarkwa; brothers, Meade Ryan (Janice) Gougeon, Jae Gougeon and Glenn Kirkland and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Meade Gougeon; brother, Gary Kirkland; all of his grandparents; four aunts and two uncles.
In honoring Benjamins wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Bay Veterans Foundation – helping veterans help themselves, serving all veterans in the Greater Bay Region.
