Benjamin Hall Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Benjamin "Ben" Gerrit Hall passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the age of 49. Ben, his wife, Andrea, and daughter, Virginia "Ginny" Hall live in Huxley, IA. Ben left us on a beautiful gravel road in his pickup, he loved driving backroads and would frequently go for a drive just to enjoy life.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Elkhart Christian Church (252 NW Washington Ave.), followed by a visitation and time for fellowship in the church hall from 5:00-7:00 pm. All who loved and cared for Ben, Andrea and Ginny will be welcome to attend. Ben will be laid to rest at the Elkhart Brethren Cemetery, in Elkhart, IA.

Ben Hall was born July 26, 1976, in Des Moines, IA, to John Hall and Arlys (Prange) Hall of Ankeny, Iowa. Ben attended North Polk Community Schools into high school and then when the family moved to the other side of the farm he eventually graduated from Ankeny High School in 1995. Ben worked with John (father) and Andrew "Andy" (brother) at the family farm since he was old enough to walk. Farming was Ben's dream job, and he loved it. Ben could drive any piece of equipment and repair things too. Some of his favorite activities took place in the workshops of friends, though not all of those were spent working on trucks and equipment. Ben never met a stranger.

Ben was married August 8, 2009, to Andrea Darlene Hall (Mundt). Andrea and Ben were blessed with the love of their lives on June 25, 2012, when Virginia "Ginny" Joy Hall was born. Ben was a devoted father and husband. He would make a fool of himself regularly to make his girls laugh, as he "swam in the estrogen ocean", that was his home. Ben was also known as the "treat guy" to his two cats, Tootsie Roll and KitKat.

Ben was a farmer and truck driver throughout his adult life. He worked many years for Heartland Co-op in Bondurant. He moved on to work for many years at Rueter's in Ankeny. In his last few years he worked with friends closer to farming, first for Steven Owen and family, and finally for the Jensen family. Through all of those he worked with his dad and brother on the Hall farm as long as they owned it.

Ben is preceded in death by his sweet mother, Arlys Hall; his maternal grandparents, Ester and Gerrit Prange; paternal grandparents, Lizzie and J. Raymond Hall; uncle, Jay Prange; and cousin, Vincent Pollock. Ben is survived by his wife, Andrea; daughter, Ginny; brother, Andy Hall; father, John Hall; uncle, Ed Hall; aunt, Barb Hall; and many cousins and chosen family members.

In lieu of flowers the family requests your consideration of a donation to the memorial fund to help with Ginny's educational expenses. We are using GoFundMe at this link: https://gofund.me/d7fe029ac or use the QR code.
