Benjamin Ogleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith Funeral Directors, Inc on Dec. 11, 2025.
Benjamin Michael Ogleton was born May 3, 1956 in Nashville, Tennessee, the third child of the late Benjamin W. Ogleton, Jr. and Emma Smith Ogleton.

He is preceded in death by brother, Reverend Dwight C. Ogleton.

Michael confessed Christ at an early age uniting with the Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Marion Myers.

He attended the Davidson County Public Schools and graduated from East Nashville High School.

Michael was a very gifted individual possessing a natural talent, given by God, to draw and paint. You could say he was the Vincent Van Gogh of Nashville's streets where he could often be found selling his artwork from sidewalk to sidewalk. He favored painting sceneries of landscapes, fields and countrysides. But he was equally skilled as an illustrator and had at one time accumulated an outstanding collection of exceptional comic strips and drawings.

He is survived by his loving family, daughter, Michelle Ogleton; son, Benjamin (Siray) M. Ogleton II (Nashville) their mother Allison Scott, her son, Jamal Chambers; grandchildren, Tyler Ogleton, Malik Murray, Olivia, Benjamin III, and Georgiana Ogleton; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Lizzettar (Julian) Lewis, Gina Ogleton, Deborah White and Narkita (Reginald) Rhodes, Sr.; brother, Kevin (Kimberly) Ogleton, Sr.; sister-in-law, Beatrice Ogleton; a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins; dear, longtime friend Hillary Parks; Dr. Wade Brown, exceptional healthcare professional and extraordinary friend; neighborhood families: The Arnell's, Dennis', Jackson's, Price's and Smith's.

Family visitation, Saturday December 20, 2025 11-12pm with memorial service to follow at Smith Funeral Chapel, 706 Monroe Street.
