Benjamin H. "Ben" Phyfe, 62-year-old rural Vinita resident, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at his home. He was born on November 6, 1961, in Meriden, Connecticut to John Duncan Phyfe and Jaqueline Hill Phyfe. Ben served his country in the United States Army for 2 years. He was a professional commercial fisherman, working in Alaska among other places during his life. Ben moved to Oklahoma to the Grand Lake area in 2021, from Georgia. He was a very active member of AA, he had 47 years of sobriety. Ben also enjoyed photography. He was a member of the South Grand Lake Christian Church near Langley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Duncan Phyfe, and Jaqueline Hill Phyfe.
The family includes his wife Elita King of the home, children, Elizabeth Phyfe of Missouri, Lois King of Georgia, William King of Georgia, brothers, Kent William Phyfe and Duncan Wayne Phyfe of North Carolina, a sister, Elizabeth Burnell of Connecticut, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. the South Grand Lake Christian Church, with Rev. Gina Jackson officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page.
Arrangements are in the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita.
