Benjamin J. Shearer, 47, of Hanover passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. His loss is profoundly felt by his family and friends.
Ben was the beloved husband of more than 15 years to Damarys (Diaz) Shearer and a doting father to Marshall, age 10, and his 4-year-old Boxer, Flash. They were the light of his life.
Ben was born on June 17, 1975 in Hanover, to Joseph D. Shearer and Brenda L. (Myers) Fair. He had a tight knit community of friends and family who will remember him always for his quick wit, brilliant mind and larger than life personality. He was kind, generous, and fiercely loyal.
He loved rooting for his professional sports teams and was a hard-core fan of the Atlanta Braves and Tennessee Titans. He enjoyed cooking, golfing, fishing, hunting and listening to his favorite jam bands, Government Mule and Phish.
But what he loved most was spending time with his son, cheering him on from the sideline, throwing the baseball or football and fishing everywhere he could put a line in. He and his son also shared a love for the natural world and enjoyed studying history and learning amazing facts about animals.
Ben was a graduate of Shippensburg University with a BSBA degree in Human Resources Management and a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
He is also survived by his brother Travis Shearer and his wife Wendy, niece Callie, stepmother Donna Shearer, stepfather Scott Fair, and stepbrother Brian Flannery.
He was preceded in death by his nephew Jacob Shearer and stepbrother Scott Flannery.
A memorial service to celebrate Ben's life will be held by his family at a later date.

I didn´t know Ben real well, but I played as teammates on the Arentz Oil League Team. Ben welcomed me and never failed to recognize me out in public. His infectious smile and demeanor will never be forgotten. I am deeply saddened by his passing. The world will miss his smile! My deepest condolences to his family. Ben you will be missed. Stoney
