Benjamin Spence Obituary

Published by R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A. - Rising Sun on Apr. 29, 2015.
Benjamin Taylor Spence, 27, of Rising Sun, MD, passed away unexpectedly April 29, 2015. Born in Newark, DE on October 11, 1987, Ben was the son of Joseph Spence and Vicki Stone. He was a 2005 graduate of Rising Sun High School and received his B.S. in Wildlife Management from Frostburg State University. He served an externship at the Wildlife Center of Virginia. Ben enjoyed video games and also had a love of all animals. His area of special interest was carnivores. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Shannon Parker of Rising Sun and was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty and Skip Stone, and Joseph and Joanna Spence. A memorial service will be held at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Rising Sun, MD 21911 on Monday May 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation beginning at noon. Burial will be in West Nottingham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wildlife Center of Virginia and mailed to the funeral home. Ben was a lover of animals from the time of his childhood on. He served an internship at the Wildlife Center of Virginia the summer of 2011 and became nationally famous for his appearances on their Critter Cam , taking care of 3 eagles being rehabilitated there. This was perhaps the happiest and proudest time of his life. He was also a former Cub and Boy Scout, a time which I as his father treasured for the opportunity of sharing with him.

I am also thinking of Ben-dad on this day, the anniversary of Ben's passing. His memory will live on in the hearts of all of us who knew him from the Wildlife Center. Ben-dad, I hope that you are comforted by sweet memories, and by knowing that there are many of us out there who care. Continuing to pray for you, especially on this day.
