Benjamin Westbrooks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory - Cumming on Mar. 12, 2026.
Benjamin Franklin Westbrooks, 74, of Cumming, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family following an extended illness.

Ben was born on November 10, 1951, in Marietta, Georgia. He was the youngest son of the late Cecil Bloomer Westbrook and Dorothy Christine Moss.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Felicia Fitts Westbrooks; his son, Mykl (Jenny) Westbrooks of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and his daughter, Becky (Matt) Johnson of Powder Springs, Georgia. He also leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Kirian, Alex, Josiah, and Makayla.

Ben is also survived by his sister-in-law, Katrina (David) Green of Cumming, Georgia; niece Alicia (Patrick) Franklin of Canton, Georgia and their children Mason, Peighton, and Finley; nephew Alan (Rachel) Green of Jasper, Georgia and their children Camden, Knox, Isla, and Blaire; and his sister, Ann Roper of Armuchee, Georgia, along with many other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Ernest, Faye, Larry, Carolyn, and Bill, as well as his mother-in-law and father-in-law Joe and Betty Fitts.

Ben was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 18 and was discharged on his 21st birthday in 1972. He worked as a Five Index Installer for more than 50 years, beginning with Western Electric while still in high school. After returning from the military, he continued his career as the company transitioned through BellSouth, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies. During his career, he helped install phone lines for the Panama Canal. After retirement, Ben continued working as a supervisor for Tyco and General Electric.

Ben went by many names throughout his life. His parents and siblings called him Franklin, close friends knew him as Ben, and his work buddies called him Chico. To Mykl and Becky, he was Dad, and to his grandchildren he was proudly known as Gramps.

He loved riding his Harley and shared many adventures with Felicia, attending Daytona Bike Week nearly every year, traveling to Sturgis in 2001, and enjoying numerous other motorcycle rallies. One of his favorite traditions was attending the Hartman Cycles Toy Run each December.

Ben also loved hunting, fishing, drag racing, and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

Ben will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 15th, 2026 from 3pm-6pm at McDonald and Son Funeral Home, on Monday, March 16th, 2026 from 10am-2pm and from 4pm-8pm, and on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026 from 10am-12pm.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home at 12pm on Tuesday, March 17th, 2026.

Interment will follow at 1:45pm at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roswell.

The family asks that everyone dress casually, as that is how Ben would have wanted it, and please feel free to wear overalls!!!!!!
