Robert James Carlisle

Our beloved Robert James Carlisle, 89 years young of Cumming Georgia peacefully passed into the great beyond February 19th 2026. He was born October 9th 1936 in New London Texas to Maureen Macon Miller Carlisle and Otho Jeffie Carlisle. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Madonna Sue McFarland Carlisle, his son Robert Jeffie Carlisle of Pensacola, Florida, daughter Julia Kim Carlisle Spencer, and son-in-law David Christopher Bunyard of Gainesville Georgia, granddaughter Ginger (Bunie) Ledet' Spencer, and spouse William Baker of Norcross Georgia, great grandsons, Isaiah Jackson Owens and Elijah Sage Spencer.Bob is also survived by his two sisters Jackie McGinty and Janet Sue Tony of Texas. Last but not least he is survived by his great-grandson Carlisle Lucas Spencer of Atlanta Georgia.

Bob grew up in East Texas in a lively home with seven siblings. Life was never boring. He eventually became an avid sailor and very much enjoyed refurbishing sailboats and especially loved sailing Pensacola Bay calling in the Dolphins and enjoying adventures in many other bodies of water in the world one time even participating in a sailboat race to Cuba and back a life of adventure was the life for him.

Bob brought cooking to an art form that was always a real treat for anyone lucky enough to be invited to dinner. He had a natural gift and never had a recipe for anything. He could make any kind of rue, sauce, or gravy. He loved to create a new dish or environment, be it a patio of beauty or a new spin on curry. Entrepreneurship was natural for him and executive recruiting was something that he excelled at which inspired him to create his own recruiting firm called Search America. Enthusiasm was his way and it always felt so good to be greeted warmly and excitedly by him. Humor was an important part of who he was. He loved hearing and telling a good joke. Bob was an excellent dancer with amazing rhythm and once won a Twist contest with his beautiful wife Madonna in New Orleans. He was a lifelong yellow dog Democrat and he loved cats. Bob is also survived by his beloved feline of 21 years, George.

The family will have a private celebration of life service on August 24th 2026 in Gainesville Georgia.
