Benjamin Yunker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 19, 2024.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Benjamin Yunker who left us on June 11, 2024 at the age of 47. A free spirit and adventurer at heart, Ben lived his life with an unyielding passion for rock climbing and an unquenchable thirst for living on his own terms.
Ben was born on July 4, 1976 and grew up in Freeport, Maine with his parents and siblings. Ben always had natural curiosity and a fearless spirit. From a young age, he was drawn to the outdoors. His love for rock climbing began as a teenager, and it quickly became more than a hobby-it was his life's calling.
Ben was known for his warmth, humor, and generosity. He had an incredible ability to connect with people from all walks of life, sharing his love for the outdoors and inspiring others to pursue their passions with the same fervor he did.
Ben is survived by his parents Colleen and Ken Yunker, his siblings Liesl, Katrina, David, Tom, Brian, Ken and countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and fellow climbers who will forever remember his spirit and zest for life. Though his journey with us was far too brief, the impact he made on our lives will remain with us always.
In honor of Ben, a celebration of his life will be held on June 29, 2024 at 69A Ramshackle Road, West Newfield, Maine at 2:00PM where friends and family will gather to share stories and remember the incredible person he was. The celebration will be casual, joyous and laidback, just as he would have wanted.
Ben, may you find peace in the highest peaks and the most beautiful vistas, forever free and unbound.
Rest in peace, beloved brother, son, and friend. Your spirit will always be with us.
Your family.
