Bennie was a great neighbor and friend. He provided inspiration to us younger retirees in the neighborhood with his healthy, active lifestyle. His sudden death comes as a shock. We will surely miss him here on NESL.

Bennie was a very special dear friend of my wife Melinda and me. He and I ran literally thousands of miles together over the years from 1977 thru 2008.
He will always have a special place in our hearts! God Bless you Bennie!

I was a student of Mr. Linkhart's at Catalina. He was a great guy and, although I did not like the subject matter, he made swallowing those formulae much more palatable.
I'll never forget him going on about Dolly Madison Rum Cakes. I presumed he liked them. Anyway, I asked my Mother to bake a rum cake for him and she did. I took it to class and he was thrilled. Unfortunately, the cake did not help my grade.
I always have wondered how he was doing as he was one of those memorable teachers. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Linkhart got me through geometry while I was a student at Catalina High School. He made me promise to never tell anyone he was my teacher. I guess because he didn't want his record sullied with my poor performance. Ha Ha
He would be surprised to know I taught school myself for over twenty years in TUSD and many of those years were as a teacher of the gifted. My abilities were not, however, in math.
Think how many lives he touched in all those years, including mine. I am grateful for his life of service. He was a darling. Allyn Hansen Thompson, class of 1963

Mr. Linkhart was a very memorable teacher and coach at Catalina HS. He was tough, fair and very motivating. So pleased to learn he was in good health right up to the end of his life. He helped shape many lives as a teacher.

Bennie was a role model who taught, by example, how to deal with difficult students even when all we wanted to do was kick them in the knee. His unwavering kindness to me and to many other teachers was genuine and warm. He will always hold a special place in my heart. My sincerest condolences to you. What a sad loss.
