Benny Ernest “Benji” Bowers, Jr., 44, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2024. He was born in Forsyth Co. on September 11, 1979, the only son of Phyllis and Benny Bowers. Benji attended Siloam Baptist Church and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was currently working for Utili-Serve as a civil supervisor. His whole world revolved around his family and friends, being on or near the water, hunting and fishing, dancing or just hanging out at a cookout with family and friends. Benji loved BIG and everyone loved him the same. He is survived by his loving wife, Kristan Stevens “Krissy” Bowers; his five boys, Tristan Allen, Benny E. Bowers, III, Waylan Bowers, Wyatt Bowers and “Baby Knox” Bowers; his parents Phyllis and Benny Bowers; his three sisters, Melanie Williams (Joe), Angela Stewart (Zach) and April Trakas (Derrick); six nephews; four nieces; and many extended family and friends that he considered his brothers. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, at Old Roaring River Baptist Church in Traphill, NC with Rev. Jarred Seal officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening, May 5, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. The family would like to extend a truly heartfelt thank you to the Dobson Rescue Squad, Mt. Airy Rescue Squad, Elkin Rescue Squad, Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, Pilot Knob Volunteer Fire Department, Arlington Volunteer Fire Department, Fall Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Surry Co., Yadkin Co. and Stokes Co. EMS, NC Wildlife Resource Commission and NC Parks Service, for everything they did to help with Benji’s situation.
