Benny K. Castloo, Jr., a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 3, 2024, bringing an end to his earthly struggles. He was the second most important person to be born on February 22nd after George Washington. Mr. Castloo was born on February 22, 1958, in Tyler, Texas. Benny's life was one marked by camaraderie, hard work, and moments of joy on the green and around the poker table.
A proud graduate of Mineola High School, class of 1976, Benny embarked on a career with Pennzoil Oil and Gas, where he dedicated many years to laboring on offshore rigs. His work ethic and commitment were exemplary, earning him the respect of colleagues and supervisors alike.
Benny was known for his warm heart and genuine camaraderie. Whether teeing off on the golf course or bluffing his way through a hand of poker, Benny's zest for life was contagious. He cherished the moments spent with friends, relishing their company and laughter.
In Benny's passing, he leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship. He is preceded in death by his father, Benny K. Castloo, Sr., and his loyal four-legged companion, Malcolm, a black Scottie. Benny is survived by his devoted mother, Barbara J. (Yates) Shtofman, his brother Howard Castloo, and wife Anneliese Castloo, his sister Carrie Nicholson, his niece Lindsay, his nephews Tyler and Kyle, and a host of other beloved family members.
A graveside service to honor Benny's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12th, at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Mineola. The ceremony will be a gathering of family and close friends, who will come together to celebrate Benny's life and bid him a fond farewell. Among those honored to serve as pallbearers are Tyler Castloo, Kyle Castloo, Tommy Castloo, Chase Castloo, Josh Strange, and Tyler Sitton.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Benny's memory will endure as a beacon of friendship, kindness, and laughter. Though he may have left this world, his spirit lives on in the cherished memories he leaves behind. Rest in peace, Benny, knowing you were indeed a true friend to all.
