Benny F. DiAngelo Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Benny F. DiAngelo on January 22nd, 2025, at the age of 85. He passed peacefully surrounded by his immediate family. Benny was born on August 30th, 1939, in Coney Island, Brooklyn, to loving parents Salvatore and Mary D'Angelo. Growing up in Brooklyn, Benny met the love of his life, Marie Susan (Sue) DiAngelo. Their marriage was bound by 62 years of joy, trust, and compassion. Benny was a man full of love. He was known for his unwavering care, resilient determination, and everlasting empathy for his family, friends, and community. He also had an undeniable soft spot for all animals, especially his beloved cat Harvey.
Benny made it a point to constantly heed the well-being of others. If there was a problem, Benny was always looking to remedy it. This intuition led him to pursue a successful career as an NYPD Police Officer for 20 years. His commitment and generosity for his community served as an extension of his personal morals and values in his professional life.
After his retirement from the NYPD, Benny ran a small business in Nyack for 10 years, Village Paint & Wallpaper. Benny had the innate ability to fix anything. Even after he sold his business, he always made sure he kept a lovely house to serve as a forever home for his family.
When he was away from work, Benny loved to keep busy personally. In the summers, he loved the beach and was a skilled fisherman. Benny was an enthusiastic New York Mets and New York Giants fan, and was never shy to engage in conversation about the state of each team, good or bad. Additionally, he was an avid gym-lover, but was just as graceful with a paintbrush or sewing kit, all the while listening to the music of Frank Sinatra.
Benny's legacy is carried on through his children: Suzanne DiAngelo Coyle, Christine DiAngelo Sciarretta, and Benjamin Charles DiAngelo (married to Deborah DiAngelo); grandchildren Grace Anne Coyle, Emma Gail Coyle, Kathryn Susan Coyle, Christian Joseph Sciarretta, Lucas John Sciarretta, Julia Margaret DiAngelo, Benjamin Philip DiAngelo, and Natalie Maria DiAngelo.
Benny leaves an indelible mark on all of those who knew him, and his love will be with them forever.
