Mr. Benny Ray Williams (83) of Greenwood, South Carolina entered into Heaven on February 13, 2023. He was born in Swainsboro, Georgia on September 9, 1939, to the late Pearl Collins Williams and Remer Lee Williams. Benny lived his life in the Augusta/Appling Georgia area. Mr. Williams retired in 1992 after 34 years of service to disabled clients at Gracewood State School and Hospital where he served the Institution as Recreation Therapy Director. He is the father of Robin Christine (deceased infant) Kathy Cook (Tim) Kim Whitson (Paul) Blair Williams (Kelly) and Tony Williams (Beth). Benny was the grandfather of Allison Walkenhorst (Mark) Emily Bruggeman (Mateo) Kristin Hulsey (Jason) Bristol, Karissa, Lexi and Cameron Williams. His blessings continued with five great grandchildren-Lillie, Paige, Elise, Palmer and Logan. Mr. Williams had three brothers and one sister. He was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers. Our dad loved sports and even on his sickest of days loved to watch the Georgia Bulldogs play anything but especially football. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday February 18, 1:00pm at Narrow Way Baptist Church (128 West Gold Street McCormick SC 29835) The family will receive guests prior to the service at 12:00. Preacher Brian Cannon will officiate. There will be a private burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Narrow Way Baptist Church. We were blessed by the love and life of our father and thank Jesus for the assurance of heaven. The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Abbeville Hospital for the exemplary care our father received in his final days.
