Bernadette Patricia Sajak (nee Janowski), passed into the waiting arms of her Lord on October 18, 2025, at the glorious age of 95. She was born and raised and lived in the Kaisertown section of Buffalo until she turned 88 years old. She is the daughter of the late Ronald and the late Rosemary (nee Krupka) Janowski. She had a long and rewarding career working for the Peter J. Schmidt Company for over 50 years as a Purchaser for Bell's supermarkets. Her husband, the love of her life, Stanley Sajak, passed away in 1998.
Together they raised their daughter Ann Patricia and their two sons Donald Michael and George Thomas in their Kaisertown home. Bernadette, known by all as "Bernie" enjoyed playing Bingo at the Chruch of St. Casimir and St. Bernards. She loved to crochet, bake and raise her parakeets. She was affectionately known as "Nana Bernie" to the kids in the neighborhood. She had the "Kool-Aid" house as she always baked chocolate chip cookies and other confections for the neighborhood kids. She loved to entertain for the holidays and always made sure her guests & family had food to take home. Her Placek was also in high demand as was her pies all made from scratch. Her son George passed away in 2008, and she never fully recovered for that tremendous loss. She was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother as well as sister and aunt. Her legacy will be forever cherished by her daughter and son-in-law Ann Patrician and Frank Paulo of Reno, NV and her son and daughter-in-law Donald Michale and Jacqueline Sajak and George's wife Laurie of Baltimore, MD. Bernie was blessed to have 7 grandchildren, 8 great and 6 great-great grandchildren. Loving sister of the late George (the late Wanda) Pichorek, the late Walter (the late Helen) Janowski and the late Teresa (the late Raymond) Merriweather. Many nieces and nephews as well as greats will cherish her memory.
A gathering of family will take place at the Kevin M. Mason Funeral Home for a private celebration of her life. Bernie's final place of rest will be St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be directed to a charity of your choice in her honor. Family and friends are encouraged to sign the on-line guest book, share a favorite memory and light a candle on her tribute page at www.kevinmmasonfuneralhome.com.
