Bernard Michael Barbadora, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Alpha, New Jersey, on October 2, 1943, Bernard held the distinction of being a dedicated educator, retiring from Cincinnati Public Schools after over 30 years of service as Director of Research and Development.
His academic journey was marked by considerable achievement; he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Dayton, furthering his education with a PhD from The Ohio State University. This commitment to learning and development played a key role in his notable career that left a lasting impact on countless students and fellow educators.
Bernard was well-known for his larger-than-life personality, often being described as the life of the party. He was not only a devoted friend but also an accomplished athlete. His passion for sports was evident through his proud tenure as a football player at the University of Dayton, and he relished time spent on the golf course and engaging in bocce ball with friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Nathan Slovis; his sister, Leona Albert; and his fiancé, Mary Hammer. Bernard is also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him fondly and carry forward his legacy of joy, laughter, and camaraderie.
Bernard was predeceased by his parents, George and Kathleen Barbadora, as well as his siblings: Eleanor Barbadora, Viola Terry, Richard Barbadora, and Donald Barbadora. Each of these individuals played a significant role in his life, and he cherished their memories deeply.
As we remember Bernard Michael Barbadora, we celebrate a life well-lived—one of education, athleticism, friendship, and love. His contributions to both his family and community will undoubtedly leave a lasting imprint for years to come.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 11 AM to 12 PM, followed by a 12 PM Memorial Blessing Service at the Dalbert, Woodruff & Isenogle Funeral Home.
