Bernard Joseph Buselmeier, a loving husband and proud father, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 68. Born on February 10, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Bernard and Rita Buselmeier (Cook). He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his wife Carolyn, his son, Andrew, his daughter-in-law, Kimberly, and his granddaughter, Cora. He is also survived by his former wife Sharon Buselmeier, his sisters, Judith McLaughlin, Barbara Miller, and Linda Alam. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Ann Melchiore, Carrol Wollscheid, Charles Buselmeier and Particia Mullins.
Bernie was a graduate of the University of Detroit, where he honed the skills that would define his successful professional journey. He was a respected figure in the financial sector for over 30 years, having held significant positions such as Chief Financial Officer at Innovative After Market Systems and GMAC Insurance Personal Lines, also the Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at Motors Insurance Group. His career was marked by a commitment to excellence and integrity. He took much pride in his professional life mentoring and managing, where he created and maintained many long-term relationships with colleagues.
Bernie cherished spending time in Canadian Lakes, where he found great peace and relaxation by boating, golfing and projects around the house. In retirement Bernie and Carolyn took wonderful trips to South America, Croatia, Greece and Italy. Bernie also enjoyed short walks and chatting with the neighbors.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Friday, September 20, 2024 beginning at 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 21, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth, from 10 A.M. until the Funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M.
Bernie’s final resting spot will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
