Bernard A. Eiberger
1935 – 2023
King City, MO: Bernard Anthony Eiberger, 88, of King City, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Pineview Manor in Stanberry, Missouri.
He was born August 10, 1935, at his home in rural King City, Missouri to Balthas S. and Josephine A. (Meyer) Eiberger. He attended Red Star and Pleasant Hill schools.
Bernard married the love of his life, Caroline (Carrie) A. (Lager) on May 6, 1961, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Maryville, Missouri. They raised their five children on the centennial family farm in rural King City until they moved to "town" in 1988.
Bernard was a lifelong farmer and stockman. As a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ford City, Missouri, his faith created a strong example for his family. He was involved in several community organizations that included the Lions Club, REA Board of Directors and the King City School Board. Attending cattle tours across the Midwest for most of his life was what he looked forward to the most. Support of his children was important to him and he participated in many of their activities, especially the Future Homemakers of America, Booster Club and 4-H. His chosen seat at all athletic events was the top row of the bleachers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John and Gerald; his sisters, Marjorie Derks and Mary Ann Willis, and brothers-in-law, Leo Derks and Don Willis.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years; his son, Stephen (Beth) Eiberger of King City, MO; daughters, Mary Jo Eiberger of Cameron, MO, Carol Anne (Michael) Hoppins of Agency, MO, Martha (Dean) Smith of Wathena, KS and Joanne (Matthew) Allen of Republic, MO. Grandchildren include Anthony (Lauren) Hoppins, Amanda (Phillip) Durbin, Phillip (Hannah) Eiberger, Alexandria (Remington) Sprake, Christopher (Diana) Eiberger, Abbie (Zach) Burger, Austin Allen, Jacob Smith, Nicole Allen, and Hailey Allen. He also is survived by 6 great grandchildren, plus one on the way. Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Georgia Eiberger, many nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanberry, MO. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Conception, MO. A family rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 7:00pm and a public rosary will be recited at 5:30pm on Thursday at Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Conception Abbey/Partnering for Priests or Stanberry Pineview Manor in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 153, King City, MO 64463. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
