Bernard W. "Bernie" Fannin, 90, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at Community Hospice Care Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Saturday, August 24, 1935 in Ashland, a son of the late Modest and Ruth Harris Fannin. Bernie was of Christian faith and enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a Navy veteran, and retired from AK Steel after 37 years in the maintenance and energy service departments. At home, he stayed busy as a handyman, and loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Sada Louise Fannin. He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Rick) Vogel of Perrysburg, Ohio, and Vicki (William) Hambrick, of Ashland, Kentucky; a sister, Gail Fannin of Sanford, Florida; six grandchildren, Stacey, Candace, Erica, Bryan, Amanda, and Danielle; and 9 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Logan, Gabriel, Colin, Chloe, Avery, Ella, Isaac, Raylan and Elijah. A private memorial service with full military honors will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mfhfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Miller Funeral Home in Ashland, Kentucky.
