Garysburg, North Carolina
Mr. Bernard Jones, 78, of Garysburg, North Carolina, was born on September 21, 1946, to the late Rufus and Mary Lizzie Williams Jones.
He received his education through the public schools of Northampton in May 1966.
Bernard later married his high school sweetheart, Hannah Beatrice Ghee Jones on July 3, 1967. Their union was blessed with four children: Bernard, Jr., Robin, Maria, and Jennifer. Bernard Jones Jr. preceded his father in death.
Bernard was employed at the Weldon Veneer Mill and also, the Coca Cola Plant in Weldon, North Carolina. A few years later, Bernard changed his career and became a Cement Finisher in construction work in the state of Virginia. Bernard wasn't afraid of hard work. He would pour and finish driveways or patios in his neighborhood, share vegetables from his garden, and sometimes lend a helping hand to others in need. After Bernard's retirement, he worked with Doug Putney Concrete of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina before his health declined.
Bernard joined New Jerusalem Holiness Church in the year 2024. Peacefully, he went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at ECU Health, North Hospital in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
