I only discovered Bernard McGuirk, listening to Bernie and Sid in the morning radio on WABC, and what a refreshing radio show! Sadly, this was only for about a year before he died but what kept me listening was the wit, humor and common sense not heard anywhere else. A great loss to the station and to humanity! Condolences to the family on this anniversary.

Bernie, you will truly be missed. I have a fond memory of running into you at Penn Station on my way to work. You were in deep conversation with someone with your glasses on your head just like I do and I didn't want to bother you. I will miss your humor and intellect. Rest in eternal peace.

Bernard was a major part of my family's morning routine for many years. He was a unique individual, a man of countless virtues and talents. He was a superb intellect and a kind, gentle man. Listening to him on WABC Radio was always a treat. He was blessed with a wonderful family. He can rest in peace and out of his pain.

It has been almost a week, and I still can´t believe that Bernie is gone. Despite his long illness and suffering, it was such a shock to hear that he actually left us. Bernie was so entertaining with Imus for so many years, especially as Cardinal O´Connor and other characters. But then with his own show with Sid, Bernie revealed another side of himself-a very intelligent and well read patriot who was incredibly well versed in all the issues of the day. I was so honored to have been a contestant on "Beat Bernie," and surprised to be the second contestant ever to actually beat him in June 2020. It gave me a chance to talk to him, which was the biggest thrill of all. What a kind and humble man, in addition to being a unique talent who can never be replaced.
My deepest sympathy to his wife Carol, his children Brendan and Melanie, his father, and the rest of the McGuirk family. Many thanks to them for allowing his funeral mass yesterday to be live streamed so that those who could not attend could pay respects to Bernie virtually and witness the heartfelt eulogies given by Melanie, Bo Dietl, Sid, and Mike Breen. I pray for his family and closest friends and colleagues during this very sad time, and for Bernie of course as well. Rest In Peace, Bernie. You are now one of the multitude of angels in Heaven, and you will always be greatly loved and greatly missed God bless you always.

Dear McQuirk Family,
As I traveled every morning to work, Bernie was that reassuring voice that made sense of life on that particular day as current news unraveled. When Bernie´s death was shared the other day, I sobbed like I lost a brother.
His pure honesty guided me daily in a crazy world. He worked all throughout COVID and tried to make sense of the virus. I sadly lost my husband to COVID so I share Carol´s loss of amazing men. Life hands us challenges we never expected. May all the angels in Heaven welcome Bernie and offer him a front row seat to review and stand as our lives are welcomed in heaven for jobs well done. May the wind be at his back always and may the good Lord hold him in the palm of his hand

Mere words can never truly express how fortunate we all were to have Bernie wake us up in the morning. He gifted us each day with his extraordinary intelligence, great sense of humor and great empathy. His life was an inspiration to all of us. As many have conveyed, although I did not know him, I was heartbroken and many tears were shed. I will truly miss this ray of sunshine that brightened my days. May his family find peace and comfort knowing how this wonderful man positively touched so many lives. My deepest condolences to his family.

Bernie, I am heartbroken that you are gone from us. I prayed that you would be coming back in to the studio everyday. You were such a beautiful bright spot in my life everyday. You made all the bad stuff happening in the world right now a little more bearable for me. I´m sure a lot of people feel that way about you. You gave us hope. I love you Bernie. I´m so happy that I got to see you ( and sid) with Bill Oreilly at the paramount in Huntington. You were unbelievable. My deepest condolence´s to your beautiful family. You were a great husband and father. On top of that you were a wonderful person. The world was a greater place with you in it. My days won´t be the same without my Bernie in the morning. Rest In Peace. Love Pam k.

On behalf of my husband Vincent and I, we offer the family our prayers and heartfelt sympathy. Bernie was an integral part of our mornings for decades. We will miss him terribly. I never before cried and mourned as I have this past week for a person I never met. It may seem a foolish thing, but to both of us, we felt as though we knew him. He was in my prayers at Mass every Saturday evening. We followed his struggle and are sad he never recovered. But in a grater sense he is free from pain and earthly trials and in the arms of God.

Dear Bernie :
I have been a fan of yours since the IMUS days.
I agree with the fans who have written tributes on your behalf - you were superbly well read/well informed, smart, creative, funny, you had a way of uplifting people.
Now you belong to the Ages, no more suffering, no more pain.
I am grateful to have been a fan of yours - unpretentious, honest, genuine.
I will never forget the joy you brought me.
We will all carry on without you, but your mark on all of us, and on this world, will never be forgotten.
Rest in Peace,

I'm devastated. Bernard was one of the funniest, most outrageous, most entertaining voices in radio. But he was also a gentleman's gentleman. I will never forget how warm and welcoming he was to me and my 16-year-old son, Michael, back in 1996 when my son wrote a letter to Imus' brother Fred, who in turn got Michael a (very rare) invitation to sit in the radio booth for an hour and watch the Imus in the Morning program live. Imus' assistant stopped me at the studio door, saying just my son was allowed in. But Bernard, who I had conversed with on the phone for close to a decade at that point, quickly blew off her edict and allowed me in as well. When an hour passed, that same by-the-book assistant came in and said, "Time to go." Once again, Bernard stepped in and allowed us to stay for the remainder of the show. Then, he had us wait a half hour in his office with him and Chief Engineer, Lou Rufino, before escorting us back to Imus' private office for a brief, but oh so memorable, meeting with the greatest radio personality of all time himself. 58 years on this planet, and that 4-day weekend with Michael is still the greatest weekend of my life, and Bernard was a huge part of making it so. You were taken way, way too soon. You will be missed.
