Bernard James Nazer, 80, of Chippewa Falls, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Kadie's Home Suite Home Assisted Living in Chippewa Falls with his family at his side.
He was born November 23, 1944, in Chippewa Falls, WI, the son of John and Florence (Hilp) Nazer. Bernie graduated from Chippewa Falls High School in 1962. He married Katherine Debrey on May 31, 1975, in Philadelphia, PA. She passed away September 15, 2020.
Bernie worked for 18 years at the former Sacred Heart Hospital as a groundskeeper. Also, for several years at the Chippewa County Sheriff's Department as a reserve deputy. In Florida, he worked in security at Hillsboro Community College until his retirement. Bernie was known for starting the bike patrol at the college.
Among his many hobbies, was wildlife photography, especially alligators. He was an avid biker, known for his long, 15-mile daily bike rides. Bernie loved camping with his son, Stephen, and he also loved aviation – particularly airshows all over the country. Many people in the aviation world know him as "papa1kinevo."
Bernie is survived by his son, Stephen Nazer of Davey, FL; seven siblings, Eugene (Donna) Nazer, Dorothy (George) Zweifel, Lawrence Nazer, Mary (Louie) Gettler, Steven Nazer, James (Linda) Nazer, and Deborah (Mark) Loken; two children from a previous marriage, Randy Nazer and Scott Nazer; and by numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathy; a sister, Joan Nazer; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Nazer and Joyce Nazer.
A visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer, WI. Interment will be private at Meadowlawn Memorial Garden in New Port Richey, FL.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Kadie's Home Suite Home as well as St. Croix Hospice.
