Bernard "Bernie" Rodgers

Bernard "Bernie" Rodgers, age 52, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Wilmington, DE on November 22, 1970, he was a son of Robin (Annone) Rodgers and the late Thomas A. Rodgers, Jr. Bernie was a graduate of William Penn High School. He worked in construction for Pearce and Maetto, Inc.
Bernie enjoyed a good time around friends and family! He loved holiday gatherings and get togethers at his daughter's house as well as being down the beach. Bernie cherished his time spent with his grandchildren; he loved attending their sporting events and enjoyed teaching them the aspects of boxing. In his younger years, Bernie fought as an amateur boxer with a record of 20-6. He competed in the Pennsylvania Golden Gloves tournament in 1994 as a heavyweight. Bernie was an amazing father, pop-pop, son, brother, uncle and boyfriend. He was an outstanding friend who would help anyone and was well loved and liked around New Castle. Bernie will forever be loved and missed.
Bernie was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Rodgers, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Kayla (Malik); mother, Robin; siblings, Jennifer and Thomas (Kendra); grandchildren, Khalil, Jaden, and Maliyah; partner, Kimberly (Driver) Yilmaz; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 1 pm on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Interment will be held privately.
