Bernard G. Vande Streek, age 94, of Fond du Lac, died Friday, November 14, 2025, at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born on March 4, 1931, in the Town of Alto, the son of Bert and Alice (Vande Zande) Vande Streek. Bernie graduated from Brandon High School in 1949. He served in the United States Navy from 1950-54 aboard the USS Arcadia. On June 16, 1953, he married Doris Towne. They are longtime members of Grace Ev. Free Church where he served as deacon and church treasurer.
Bernie worked at J.F. Ahern for 31 years as an accountant. He was the treasurer of Fond du Lac County Habitat for Humanity from 2000-2004. He enjoyed bowling and golfing over the years.
Survivors include his wife, Doris; his children, Alan (Emma) Vande Streek, Debra (Les) Ludvigsen, Cheryl (Larry) Thalacker, Diane (Brian Bub) Gilliam, and Janet (Dave) McCarty; grandchildren, Adam (Tasha) Ludvigsen, Ashley (Ryan) Deiler, Kevin (Wendy) Thalacker, Toni (Nick) Wellman, Amanda (Jesse) Krueger; great-grandchidren, Joah, Brynleigh, and Sadie Wellman, Madison and Charlie Ludvigsen, Foster and Reagan Krueger, Grayson, Jonah, and Levi Deiler; one brother, Wayne (Emma Jean) Vande Streek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Gladys (Ted) Kastein, Cynthia (Kenneth) Kastein, Eleanor (Melvin) Ter Beest, Harrison (Leatrice) Vande Streek; one great-grand-son, Micah Wellman; and one son-in-law, Mark Gilliam.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 163 18th St, Fond du Lac, WI, 54935. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the church at 11:00 AM. Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Estabrooks Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Samaritan’s Purse.
