Age 87
Beloved wife of the late William 'Bill' for 47 wonderful years. Devoted stepmother of Vicki (Jim) Scott, and Beth Bica. Loving Nana of Melissa (Matt) Danville, Andrea, Jamie, Eric, Elizabeth Scott, Lauren (Steven) Coval, and Matthew Wolkhamer. Great Nana of Louis Coval. She was very dearly loved and will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Bunny had a true caretaker's heart, always putting the needs of others before her own. Born in Virginia, Illinois, she later moved to Detroit, Michigan, to live with her beloved Aunt Kay and Uncle Les Dunbar. It was there that she lovingly helped care for her uncle after he suffered a stroke - a beautiful example of her lifelong dedication to family.
While in Detroit, Bunny worked as a secretary at Abner Wolf for 14 years, where she was admired for her kindness, hard work, and warm spirit. In 1975, she married the love of her life, Bill.
Bunny's heart grew even bigger with the arrival of her seven grandchildren, each of whom she cared for with endless affection - always ready with a comforting hug or gentle care when they were sick. Her grandkids kept her busy, and in her later years, she again answered the call of love and devotion, caring tenderly for Bill as he bravely battled Parkinson's disease.
Beyond her family, Bunny found deep friendships and community through the Divine Child Women's League, the Golf League, the Bowling League, and later, the Widowed Friends Group. Her humor and compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Bunny will be remembered as someone with a caring heart, dedicated to her faith and family.
Visitation Sunday 3 pm – 8pm with a 6:30 pm Evening Service at the John N. Santeiu & Son Funeral Home. In state Monday 9:30 am until the 10 am Funeral Mass at Church of the Divine Child.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Henry Ford Hospice or Angela Hospice.
