Bernice (B’) Stewart Cochran
Bernice Stewart Cochran, aged 98, died November 23, 2025, at her home in Carmichael, California. She was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Hugh H. and Cecelia Roth Stewart on November 9, 1927.
Bernice graduated from North Texas State and taught elementary school in Stamford, Texas and Dumas Texas. A ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church USA, she was a longtime member of the Central Presbyterian Church in Stamford, Texas. Bernice served on the Stamford Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and a member of the Stamford Pink Lady volunteers for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Elaine Presnall, her husbands, Jerry M. Boles Jr, and O.F. Cochran, her son-in-law Matt Chalmers, and her stepson Mike Cochran.
Survivors are her children Ruth Chalmers of Carmichael, California, Molly Clements and husband Jerry of Dumas, Texas, Jerry M. Boles III and wife Vickie of Alvarado, Texas, and O.F. (Butch) Cochran Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas.
Bernice also leaves numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who cherish the times they spent with her: Kace and Walter Schwarm, Lulu and Theo; Stewart and Leslie Chalmers, Ryland and Rachael; Mike Clements; Carl and Angie Clements, Kennedy and Sophie: Hoytt Boles, Hugh and Berniece Boles; Betsy and Andy Mayer, Jackson and Cooper.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford, Texas and no other services are planned at this time.
