Bernice Alice Gouge, 85, went to be with the Lord on July 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Bernice was a devoted servant of Christ, a loving mother, and a wife of 65 years to her husband John. She was born June 19, 1940. She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse Pipkin and Alton Pipkin, sister Mary Lou Proulx, Elizabeth Duncan, and brother Jerry Pipkin. Bernice is survived by her husband John, her three children, a son John W. Gouge; daughters Janice Gouge Lazarte, and Debra L. Gouge; Brothers, John Pipkin (Barb) Thomas Pipkin (Jean); Sisters, Linda Brown (Len), Patricia Warren; six grandchildren, Destin Lampman (Amy), Erica Golden (Al), Brandon Lampman (Liz), Christian Stanfield (Melissa), Bryan Lazarte Christopher Lazarte (Danielle); several great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ava, Jaxson, Bentley, Matthew, Rivers, Tally, and Ashley. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Bernice loved her family, fishing, and gardening. Next to her family she loved her church and church family. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is gone from this earth, but we rejoice in the knowledge that she is whole again, rejoicing in the arms of the Savoir, and we will be with her again one day. A celebration of Life will be held 2 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Rocky Mount Church of Nazarene, Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
