Obituary of Bernice C. Hickler

Bernice (Bea) C. Hickler, formerly of Cocoa, FL, East Stroudsburg, PA, and Mine Hill, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Country Meadows Personal Care Residence in Bethlehem, PA. She was 83 years of age.

Bernice was born on March 20, 1942, in Dover, grew up in Wharton, NJ, and attended Morris Hills HS. She was the daughter of the late Ira B. Andrews and Marguerite I. Babisky (Glass).

Bernice was a Beautician for many years and transitioned into the medical field, working at Pocono Medical Center in the Medical Records Department before retiring in 2010.

Bernice enjoyed sewing and crafting as well as attending various senior activities, especially dances, as she took pleasure in listening to music. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching game shows, and following General Hospital.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathy L. Ferguson, and husband Scott of NJ, half-brother Bruce Andrews and wife Christy of AL, grandson, Robert J. Bachmann and also many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Hickler; granddaughter, Victoria L. Bachmann, sister, Patricia A. Carper, and stepbrother, Jack Szarka.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, September 14th, at the Old Forge Chapel, Picatinny Arsenal, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Due to the venue's location, advanced RSVPs by Thursday, September 11th, to Kathy are necessary for entry to Arsenal. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in Bernice's memory.
