Bernice Mary Archuletta Linger, 75, a resident of Norton, passed from this life Thursday, September 25, 2025, at home. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.

Bernice was born Tuesday, November 15, 1949, in Rocky Ford, CO, a daughter of the late Pete Archuletta and Rosie Tafoya Archuletta. On August 27, 1983, in Elkins, she married Danny Linger who survives at home.

Also left to cherish Bernice's memory are three children, Tom Romero of Denver, CO, Brian Romero and wife Beverly of Elkins, Ray Linger and companion Megan Crites of Shinnston, grandchildren, Josh and Macie Romero, Raelynn and Eli Linger, Derek, Amber, and Chris Romero, numerous great-grandchildren, two sisters, Catherine Mitchell and husband Ed of Douglas, WY, Angie Marrufo of CO, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Bernice in death besides her parents were three brothers, Porfie, Danny, and Ray Archuletta.

Bernice graduated high school in Colorado. She had been employed as a shift manager at Elkins Mountain School for forty years. In her younger years, Bernice enjoyed playing softball. She enjoyed working, hunting and fishing, and loved cooking Mexican food. Bernice and Danny traveled to various states riding cross country on their motorcycle. Above all, she loved her family and caring for her grandchildren.

Bernice's request for cremation was honored. A celebration of life will be held at the Belington First Church of the Nazarene, where her husband Pastor Danny Linger presides, Sunday, October 19, 2025, following regular church services.
