Robert Earl Linger, 94, of Weston passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025 at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon, WV. He was born in Weston, WV on February 24, 1931, son of the late James Earl and Wilsie Ruth (Henry) Linger. Robert was united in marriage on July 3, 1961 to Lola (Wilfong) Linger, who survives of Weston.
Cherishing the life of Robert are his wife Lola, daughter, Melissa Allman and husband, Mike of Clarksburg, WV, grandchildren, Brittany Allman Harold and husband, Jeremy of Bridgeport, WV and Bethany Allman Campbell and husband, Cortlan of Inwood, WV, great grandchildren, Adalyn and Luke Harold, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Eugene Linger, sister, Betty Tressler and one infant sister.
Robert was a graduate of Weston High School. After school, Robert worked as a glass cutter at the Pittsburgh Plate Glass before proudly serving as a Private in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Robert had retired with 20+ years of service at the WV Department of Natural Resources as a Water Inspector. He was a member of the Murphy's Creek Baptist Church in Weston. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping on the Buckhannon River, and cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers. Robert was known as being a big talker and telling stories.
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Mitchell Cemetery in Roanoke, WV with full military honors conducted by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard with Pastor Wease Day officiating at a later date.
