Mary Katherine (Rumbach) Riggs Kemper, 87, of Weston went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Weston, WV on February 9, 1938, daughter of the late James William Rumbach and Virginia (Ervin) Rumbach. Kathie was first united in marriage to Frederic Riggs, who preceded her in death. Later in life, Kathie married Charles A. Kemper, who also preceded her in death. In addition, Kathie was preceded in death by 2 brothers, William and Joseph Rumbach.

Kathie is survived by her 3 daughters, Virginia Riggs, Veronica Lough and husband, William, and Victoria Crites and husband, Remito, step daughter, Connie Scott and husband, Tom, step son, Alan Kemper and wife, Kellie, grandson, Anthony Riggs, brother, James Rumbach and wife, Pamela, and several nieces and nephews.

Kathie was a graduate of Weston High School in 1956. She was a Methodist by faith. In her early years, Kathie had worked for the C & P Telephone Company and then was employed for the Alkaln Label Factory. Kathie was a caring and dedicated mother for her children while they were growing up serving as a Brownie, Girl Scout, and 4H Leader for the Pennsylvania extension, and as a band and PTA parent. She was a member of the Weston Chapter #40 Order of the Eastern Star and the Trans Allegheny Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed baking, crochet, sewing, outdoor work, and Bible study.

Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston, WV on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services at the Butchersville Cemetery in Weston, WV. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Kathie may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
