Bernice Joann Maynard

Bernice Joann Maynard, 84 of Genoa, WV, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born September 10, 1941 in East Lynn, WV, a daughter of the late Achree Tabor and Gertrude Carter Tabor. Bernice was retired from the Wayne County Board of Education. Her sister, Betty Varney also preceded her in death, along with a brother, Charles Tabor. Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Larry "Joe" Maynard; three daughters, Debbie Williamson and husband, Rick of South Point, OH, Carol Hurula and husband, Keith of Proctorville, OH, Pamela Adkins and husband, Tom of Lavalette, WV; two sisters, Dottie Blankenship of Reedsville, OH, Judy Adkins of Genoa, WV; four grandchildren, Thomas Adkins and wife, Kayla, Trent Adkins, Tanner Williamson and wife, Brooke, Faith Hurula; two great grandchildren, Noah Adkins and Knox Adkins; and a host of additional family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Michael Dillon and Pastor Phil Williamson. Burial will follow at Maynard Cemetery, Genoa, WV. Visitation will be from noon until service time at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to her nephew, Jeff Maynard and wife, Michelle, her sister-in-law, Julie Maynard and husband, Jerry, a niece, Jessica Messer and husband Jimmy, along with two special caregivers, Donna Fuller and Anna Holland as well as Hospice of Huntington.
