Mrs. Bernice Miller, 81, of Smokey, passed away Sunday evening, August 3, 2025 at her home. She was born February 15, 1944 in Barbourville, the daughter of the late Chester and Flora Leddington Hinkle.

Bernice was a member of the Roadside Baptist Church and a retired Knox County courthouse custodian for 25 years. She took pride in taking care of her home and property, which was always a peaceful place. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and could be found most evenings feeding corn to the many mountain critters around her. She also doted on her cat, Fluffy, fur niece, Paddie and fur nephew, Hambone. More than anything, Bernice loved God and her family.

For 48 years, Bernice was a loyal and loving wife to Bob Miller, who she married on May 5, 1963 in Knox County.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; a sister-in-law, Anna Miller; a niece, Becky Jane King; six sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include her dearly loved family, Tira King of Windsor, Franklin King of Barbourville, Lisa and Randy Hubbard of Barbourville, Scotty and Carla Hinkle of Somerville, OH, Bev and Bob Dunkin of Williamsburg, IN, Ronnie and Nita Hinkle of Cripple Creek, TX; among many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family and friends.

Her funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Sunday, August 10 at 4 P.M. with Rev. Rick Parton officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Tanyard Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Brandon Farmer, Mike Blevins, Bob Blevins, Jordan Price, Dalton Gray, Austin Farmer, Bruce Helton and Josh Helton.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday after 2 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Knox Funeral Home.
