Bernice Irene (Stoffer) Nigh, 91-year-old Bluejacket resident, passed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Heatsworth Nursing Center after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. Bernice was born April 12, 1934, in Ottawa, Kansas to Bertram and Agnes Stoffer. She married Gale Nigh in March of 1953.
Bernice worked as a Phlebotomist Lab Technician at Eastern State Hospital for many years before her retirement.
Bernice was a devoted member of Bluejacket First Baptist Church where she served in many departments. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, going with Gale to all the ball games. She said at one time, she wished she would have written down all the towns they went to.
Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Gale; parents; sisters, Emma (Toots) Gregg, Ramah Swank, and Opal Smith; and brother, Muriel Stoffer.
She is survived by her sons, Robert “Bob” Nigh (Pat), Douglas Nigh (Linda); grandchildren, Lynn Brown (David), Chancie Nigh (Leandria); Clinton Nigh (Donnell), all of Bluejacket, and Bo Nigh of Vinita; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Mona Whiteford of Corvallis, Montana; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. in the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, October 2, 2025, at First Baptist Church, Bluejacket, Oklahoma with Pastor Austin Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Bluejacket Cemetery.
