Bernice Scott Nolen was born on November 2, 1941 to Willie C. Scott and Sarah Thompson Scott in Gregg County, Kilgore, Texas. Bernice was introduced to the Lord at a young age. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Kilgore, TX. She attended North Chapel School in Kilgore, TX where she received her education. Bernice was employed at LeTourneau, LeBus, Petrolite, Laidlaw, and a bus driver for Sabine ISD.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents Willie C. and Sarah T. Scott; brothers General Grant Scott, Willie B. Scott, Freddie Scott, Willie C. Scott, Matthew Scott, Bob Scott, Hollis Scott, and Robert Scott; sisters Itilla Haywood, Icilla Henderson, and Eddie Scott; nephew Ray D. Scott Sr.
Bernice leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 61 years James Nolen Sr.; two sons Rickey (Renae) Scott of Kilgore, TX; James (Sally) Nolen Jr. of Carthage, TX; three daughters Eddie Scott, Bobbie Scott, and Shelia Nolen all of Kilgore, TX; two brother in laws Joseph (Gloria) Nolen of Tyler, TX and Antonio (Billie) Nolen of Houston, TX; two sister in laws Bessie Warren and Irene Ates of Tyler, TX; grandsons Tobias (Ariana) Nolen of Kissimmee, Florida and CaDarian Nolen of Garland, TX; granddaughters Rickeysha Scott and Bobbie Scott; three bonus grandchildren; eleven bonus great-grandchildren; bonus son Claude Fortson; bonus daughter-in-law Mona Grant.
