Bernice Patenoude, age 95 of Chicago, Illinois Journeyed to the Spirit World on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She was born on February 26, 1929 in Veblen, South Dakota the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Hill) Wanna. She was born and raised in the Sisseton and Veblen, South Dakota area. She was very proud of her native ways. Loved spending time with her family, dancing and going to Bingo. Bernice was famous for her baked apple pies.
Bernice had (12 children): Terrance (departed), Wanda, Amy, Dara (departed), Robert Jr., Marie, Michele, Patricia, Mona, Michael, Marlys and (raised from her departed sister Catherine) Pamela Robertson. She was a grandmother to Melanie, Tyler, Jonathan, Annette, Maxwell, Milene, Robert, William, David, Yvette, Amanda, Vanessa, Michael, Joshua (departed) and Ethan. She was a great grandmother to 16 children.
We all miss and love you. May you find comfort and rest peacefully.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 – 7:00 P.M. at the St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church – Hall in Sisseton, South Dakota.
Honorary Casket Bearers will be Bernice's Loving Family and Friends.
Casket Bearers will be Michael Patenoude, Jeff Wanna, Larry Jensen, Don George, Matthew Howe, Elias Mendoza.
Interment will be held on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at St. Matthew's Cemetery in Veblen, South Dakota.
