Bernice "Tootie" Duff Riddle, 77 of Narrows Virginia., formerly of Portsmouth VA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at Heritage Hall Nursing and Rehab Center in Rich Creek, Va. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years Luther Thomas Riddle Sr. and her parents Truman and Susie Duff of Suffolk, Va. She is survived by her daughters Lynn Mosley, (Leon) of Smithfield Va. Melissa Benton (Marvin) of Narrows Va. Mitzi West (Charlie) of Portsmouth Va. Sons Luther Thomas Riddle Jr. (Sherri) of Portsmouth Va and Tony Ray Riddle (Tabitha) of Narrows Va. One brother, Wayne Duff (Mary) of Franklin Va., 3 sisters Joyce Reason of Portsmouth Va., Jean Payne (Michael) of Portsmouth Va. and Audrey Frey (Gary) of Richmond Va. 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, with one more expected in November. Numerous nieces and nephews and her 2 fur babies Buddy and Baby. Tootie, as everyone who knew her called her, loved people. She never met a stranger; it was just a friend she didn't know their name yet. She could talk to anyone about anything. She loved people and would give you her last dollar or the shirt off her back. She loved to feed people, so don't think you could ever go visit without eating, especially on a holiday. She started crocheting many years ago and enjoyed making clowns for all the children in the family and dresses with matching hats and booties for anyone she knew having a new baby girl. Most recently in the nursing home she learned to do Diamond Dots and had Christmas gifts in progress already. Tootie loved to laugh and enjoyed going to church and studying her Bible. She loved being a mother, even at the early age of 13, as she took care of her younger siblings when their mother was working or became ill. Being a part of her children's lives and Nanny to her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the proudest moments of her life. No matter what was happening in their life, good or bad, they knew she had their back. Tootie's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and guests at Heritage Hall Nursing Home for the care, attention and friendship they shared with Tootie. The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Saturday, August 9, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home with Connie Richardson officiating. Funeral services will conclude in Birchlawn Burial Park where she will be laid to rest. A guestbook is available to send condolences to the family by visiting www.kendallfuneralhome.com. The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Riddle family
