Roberta (Bert) was born January 20, 1935, to Eldred (Bud) Gibson and Ona Landreth Gibson near Broken Bow, Nebraska. Bert was raised in farming communities in Custer County. Graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1952.
Bert married her high school sweetheart, Larry Eacker May 27, 1953. Together, they were loving parents to Leonard (Gaby) Eacker – Florence, CO, Sheila (Jim, dec.) James – Sierra Vista, AZ, Michael Eacker – Bailey, CO, and baby Craig Eacker (dec.) - Broken Bow, NE
Larry and Bert made their home in Broken Bow and Arnold, Nebraska. Moved to Denver, CO in 1960, and lived part-time in Arizona after retirement. Bert spent many hours quilting, crocheting, and making a home for her family. She enjoyed playing the organ, listening to country music, playing cards, and talking with others. They spent many summers at the lake fishing. When they were not home, they were traveling in their RV, visiting all 50 states. Several times, Bert invited family to join them on their travels. She invited Larry's Uncle John and Aunt Ruth Bolen on a road trip to the northeastern states and on a cruise to Alaska. For their 60th anniversary, Bert included her children on a cruise to Alaska, just to name a few. Bert loved to cruise, spending over 700 days on a cruise ship in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
Bert was preceded in death by her baby son Craig Allen Eacker, parents Bud and Ona Gibson, brothers Max Gibson and Bob Gibson, and son-in-law Lawrence William (Jim) James.
Bert is survived by her husband Larry, children Leonard (Gaby), Sheila, and Michael, four grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren, brother Benny Gibson, and numerous family members and friends.
You will be missed by all your family and friends. We love you so very much.
