James Eacker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A. G. Cole Funeral Home, Inc. on Oct. 12, 2025.
James J. Eacker, age 68, known lovingly to many as Jim, passed away peacefully at his home in Johnstown, NY, on Thursday, October 9, 2025, with his family by his side.
Born on December 17, 1956, in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of the late Jesse and Dorothy (Elmendorf) Eacker.
Jim attended Johnstown High School where he graduated with the class of 1975, forming friendships and memories that would last a lifetime. He was last employed at Benjamin Moore for a decade, and before that, he offered 25 years at Taylor Made, followed by 8 years at Spray Nine.
In the flow of life's changes and chances, 2016 brought Jim a renewed sense of joy when he married his beloved wife, Melissa (Patten) Eacker, on June 6, who survives.
Jim is also survived by his daughter, Jamie Jennings (David); stepchildren, Jimmy Robare (Lisa), Jessica Clemons and Kayleigh Hisert (Dustin); sisters, Sheila Parillo (Chris), and Cher Briggs (Tim); daughter in law, Sharon Robare; grandchildren, Jolene, and Jesse Jennings, Kathryn, Kara, Julia, Kyle Robare, Bradley, Ella, Tyler Clemons, and Khloe Hisert-Jim embraced every opportunity to create memories with them. Whether teaching them a skill or sharing stories, each grandchild was touched by his love and wisdom. Jim also leaves behind a close-knit circle of several nieces, nephews, and cousin. His family was everything to him.
In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his stepson, Larry Robare.
He may not have been able to remember names but never forgot a face. He would always have a smile and talk for a while. He loved his Greenbay Packers, his whole face would light up when talked of them. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and always enjoyed telling his wife all about them. Jim was into classic cars, when they'd go by, he would tell the history, and his wife was always in awe. He loved seeing his daughter, Jamie, in theater shows and the DC area. He was always there with a helping hand, his heart was huge, and he would always do anything to help anyone out. He and his wife would always take rides around the lake; they would always take an odd road to see where it would lead them. His greatest joy was having everyone over for BBQs at his house, he'd be the grill chef, always flipping burgers, dogs, and chicken.
Jim wanted to say thank you to everyone, his family, friends, and work buddies. Please raise your glasses for a smooth trip to Jesus, he loves you all.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services, a celebration of life will be held at a later date to be determined by the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown.

Jim and I didn´t stay in touch after high school but I remember him so well for the kind and helpful human being he was. He was always generous and so kind.
