Bert Walter Holz, age 81, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 6, 2025.
Born on June 7, 1944, in Akron, Bert was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a devoted husband, father, and member of the community. For 44 years, he was married to the love of his life, Joyce Holz (née Murphy), with whom he shared a deep and enduring bond until her passing in 2016.
Bert was known for his strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and unwavering commitment to his family, faith, and passions. A man of great devotion, he loved his church, Tallmadge Lutheran, where he remained a faithful member for many years. He had a lifelong love for gardening. His quiet joy in tending to the earth was a reflection of the care he gave to those around him.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Tura Holz, who cherishes the many memories they shared. His stubborn streak was matched only by his sweetness, his love of a good dessert, and his expertise in all things plant related. Traits that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Tallmadge Lutheran Church, 759 East Ave., followed immediately by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
