In loving memory of Bert J Lund who was born on January 23,1927, and died on January 9, 2025, in St. Charles, Illinois. He was a loving husband to Betty (Johnson) for 46 years before her death in 1991.
He is survived by his two daughters that he loved dearly, Karen (Robert) Eaker and Patti Barron. He had six grandchildren: Kristen (Bryan) Baker, Evan (Keighan) Eaker, Brendan (Lindsay) Eaker, Kailen (Brian) Kelly, Matthew (Kate) Barron, and Kelsey (Scott Uloswceh) Brar. Bert also had nine great-grandchildren: Liam and Declan Baker, Nolan and Conall Eaker, Chloe Kelly, Jack and Luke Barron, and Giaan and Ellie Brar.
Bert was born in Chicago and lived his entire life in the Chicago area. He was a witty, kind and caring man throughout his life. He was a graduate of Steinmetz High School where his football team played for the city championship at Soldier Field in Chicago. Bert spent a year at Drake University on a football scholarship until he enlisted in the US Navy during WWII. He served on the ship USS Breton where he went to Japan to pick up the troops after the war ended. After the war, Bert worked for White Cap Industry, Bowman Dairy and Bornhoff's Dairy as well as working as a part-time policeman for Morton Grove and Golf, IL. Bert spent much of his career working at Xerox where he began as one of the first technicians for this new company. He retired from Xerox in 1989 as a warehouse manager.
Bert was a very talented man and had numerous hobbies over the years with woodworking being at the top. He loved to sail and even built himself a wooden sailboat in his twenties. He went on to build furniture that now grace the houses of his children and grandchildren.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

My sympathies to Karen and Patti and their families. Although we haven't kept in touch through the years, I remember the family times we had together with Grandma Marty, Grandpa Al, Tom and Mary, Ken and Jennifer, and my parents and brother, Richard. I will keep you all in my prayers.
