Berta C. Sanchez, a cherished teacher's aide whose unwavering dedication touched the lives of many, peacefully departed this earth on January 25, 2026, in Fort Stockton, Texas. Born on March 16, 1936, in her beloved hometown of Marfa, Texas, she lived a life woven with compassion, service, and a fervent love for her family.

For an admirable span of 27 years, Berta devoted herself to the youth at Marfa Elementary, where she flourished as a teacher's aide. Her nurturing spirit and genuine affection for children resonated deeply within the halls of the school, leaving an indelible mark on countless young hearts. Berta's passion for education was paralleled only by her enjoyment of life's simple pleasures. A devoted seamstress, she found joy in her craft, often stitching together pieces that held memories and love. In quiet moments, she would engage in the sacred practice of praying the rosary, drawing strength and solace from her faith.

Berta's life was enriched by her most treasured roles as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She held her family close to her heart, celebrating the milestones of her beloved sons, Mario and Rogelio Sanchez, and her daughter, Carmenlena Sanchez. Her spirit will continue to illuminate their lives, as well as the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Berta is reunited with her cherished husband, Elias H. Sanchez, and her grandsons, John Sanchez and Michael, who preceded her in death. Their memories, forever etched in her heart, will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration for those left behind.

The celebration of Berta's life will take place on February 6, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marfa. The day will begin with visitation from 9:00 AM, followed by a rosary at 9:30 AM. The funeral service will commence at 10:00 AM, concluding with interment at Cementerio de la Merced, where her spirit will find eternal peace.

In remembering Berta C. Sanchez, we honor a woman of profound grace, love, and warmth, whose life was a testament to the power of kindness and the beauty of familial bonds. May her legacy of love and devotion continue to inspire all who knew her.
