Bertha Scroggins Clark, 90, longtime resident of Carters Creek Pike died Friday, October 4, 2024 at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday October 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Lawrence Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Tuesday October 8, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 12:00 PM till time of service at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.

Bertha was born on April 1, 1934 in Giles County to the late Willie Elmer Scroggins and the late Nellie Delina Gibson Scroggins. She graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1952 and attended Columbia Business College. Bertha married Charles Ronald Clark on February 29, 1964. She started working for AEDC in Tullahoma and retired from the United States Department of Transportation as a secretary after 14 years of service. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother that enjoyed playing the piano and reading. Bertha was a member of the Gideons Auxillary, Super Star Volunteer with the Maury Regional Hospital Auxillary and a devoted member of Church of God of Prophecy.
Survivors include her husband of sixty years Charles Ronald Clark of Columbia; three grandsons Mitchell Wright, Caleb Clark, and Eli Clark; daughter in law, Keli Edwards Clark; sisters-in-law, Louise Scroggins, Mary Scroggins, V. Jean Clark, Betty Clark, Sue Clark, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only son Charles Ronald “Chip” Clark II; three sisters, Lucille Tucker, Lois Johnson, and Evelyn Patterson; seven brothers, Oscar, Elmer, Edward, L.M., Doley, Dean and Lawrence Scroggins.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Clark, Wayne Clark, Marscell Patterson, Eddy Johnson, Ronnie Scroggins, and Tim Scroggins.
