Bertha Nanney Hill "Bub", age 96, of Spindale, NC died Saturday, August 30, 2025 at her home. She was a native of Rutherford County, a daughter of the late Drury Edgar Nanney and Velma Jaynes Nanney of the Frog Level Community. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joe Edward Hill; one brother, Robert E. Nanney; and five sisters, Lucille N. Parton, Myrtle N. Silvers, Ruby N. Daniel, Clara N. Fagan and Minnie N. Doggett.

"Bub" was a member of Spencer Baptist Church and was retired from BB&T having worked in the Spindale Branch. "Bub" loved people and they loved her back. She is survived by her only daughter, Robin H. Roberson and her favorite son-in-law David O. Roberson of the Frog Level Community. She is also survived by a host of wonderful nephews and nieces.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Spencer Baptist Church 187 N. Oak St., Spindale NC 28160 with Rev. Bruce Caldwell officiating. "Bub" will lie in state at the church from 1 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Piedmont Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center of the church immediately following the funeral.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Spencer Baptist Church 187 N. Oak St. Spindale NC 28160. Online condolences may be made at www.crowemortuary.com. Crowe's Mortuary is assisting the family of Bertha "Bub" Hill.
