Bertha Allen Mendoza, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at her home of over 75 years on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the age of 100 and 10 months. She was a resident of Plaquemine and was born on Bayou Chene, LA. Visitation will be held at Wilbert Funeral Home, 24120 Railroad Ave, Plaquemine, LA 70764, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 12pm until religious services at 2pm. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. Bertha is survived by her daughters, Maxine "Max" Clem, and Terry Shelton; grandchildren, Gretchen Clem Lyons and husband Jeb, Eric Clem and wife Jessica, Kimberly Tarleton Ondrasek and husband Nick, Kelly Tarleton Mills and husband Jared, Joshua Shelton and wife Jordan, and Casey Shelton Malone and husband Mitch; great-grandchildren, April and Caleb Lyons, Ian and Eve Ondrasek, Maggie, Nolan, and Lily Mills, Melah and Grant Shelton, and Emmie Malone; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband, John Mendoza; daughter, Sherry Mendoza Tarleton; parents, Milton and Victorine Guillotte Allen; siblings, Carrie Carline, Lillie Mire, Ruby Mendoza, Gertie Mendoza, and Milton Allen, Jr.; and sons-in-law, Ken Clem, Morris Tarleton, and Dale Shelton. Bertha was the utmost example of a loving, kind and devout Christian who loved the Lord and her family. Her attitude was always positive, never complaining and she was always concerned about others and their needs. Bertha offered Godly wisdom to all those around her, when she was asked. She was a founding member of Grand River Methodist Church. Bertha and other church ladies cleared the church land with cane knives so the church could be placed there after it was moved from Bayou Chene. She enjoyed sewing and going fishing with her husband John. Bertha was a member of the Frolickers Dance Club. At just 4'10" tall she loved dressing up in her high heels to go to church, any outing or to her dances. Bertha's passion was dancing, and she never left till the band stopped playing. Her favorite saying was "rest your feet tomorrow, tonight we dance." Special thanks to her sitters who became family, Laura Peterson, Catherine Carline, Vicky Henson, Jennifer Ishmael, Lynette Carline, and Renee Landry for their devotion and love shown to our mother. Also special thanks to Amedesis Hospice for their care. In lieu of flowers the family ask donations may be made to Grand River Methodist Church PO Box 281 Plaquemine, LA 70765.
