Bertha Annetta Mol was born February 19, 1935, the daughter of Louis and Johanna (Kraayenbrink) Achterhoff in Rock Valley, Iowa. She grew up on a farm 1 ½ miles West of Perkins corner with her four older siblings. Bertha graduated from Western Christian High School.
Bertha was united in marriage to Peter Mol on November 9, 1955, at the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, Iowa. They made their home on an acreage northeast of Sioux Center. Along with raising their four children, Bertha worked as a nurse’s aide at Orange City and Sioux Center Nursing Homes. They moved off the acreage in May of 2010, to the New Homestead in Sioux Center, before entering Accura Healthcare of Aurelia in February of 2022. Peter passed away in December of 2024, after spending 69 years together.
With her love for babies, Bertha liked working in the nursery and helping with M.O.P.S at church. She enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, and spoiling dogs. She was happiest when she spent time with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jeanne Jackson of Cherokee, IA, Carl (Janet) Mol of Burnsville, MN, Linda (Gene) McCallum of College Station, TX, and Ken (Stacy) Mol of Spencer, IA; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Wilma Brantsen; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Johanna; husband, Peter; grandson, Cody McCallum; siblings, James Achterhoff, Aldine (Bill) Van Regenmorter, Lucille (Bill) Lammers; and brother-in-law, Bill Brantsen.
Blessed be her memory.
