Bertha Rhinehart

1931 - 2026

Bertha Rhinehart, age 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of March 10 at Coronado Village Assisted Living.

She was born on March 29, 1931, to Henry and Florence (Vette) Uthoff. Bertha grew up in Norway, Iowa, where she graduated from Norway High School, reflecting the close-knit rural community that shaped her early years.

Bertha was one of nine children and was preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy Wittenburg, Walter Uthoff, Dolores Rawson, Arlene Wear, David Uthoff, Virginia Alberts, and Maxine Bliss. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Beatty.

Bertha moved to Coronado, California, in 1960, where she built her life and career. She later retired from North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado, CA, and remained in the community she had come to love.

In 1966, she married Harry Roger Rhinehart, who preceded her in death in 1985. Harry had three children, Steve, Mike, and Jeanine.

Bertha will be remembered for her kindness, quiet strength, and the many friendships she maintained throughout her life. She cherished time with family and friends and remained connected to the community where she was raised. She attended and was involved in Coronado Community Church, where she valued the fellowship and friendships she found there.

She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Beatty, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Following cremation, Bertha's ashes will be placed beside her husband at Lenox Cemetery in Norway, Iowa, honoring their life together and her deep roots in the community.

The family extends a special thank-you to her close friends in Coronado, whose friendship, kindness, and support have meant so much to her over the years.

Bertha will be remembered with love, and her family finds comfort in knowing she is now reunited with her loved ones.

A memorial service or celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
