Bertha Riojas, a lifelong resident of Soledad and a cherished pillar of her community, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. Born on May 30, 1946, to Oswaldo and Petra Luna, Bertha grew up grounded in family, faith, and service-values that shaped every part of her life.
Bertha shared more than 50 years of marriage with her devoted husband, Raymond Riojas. Together, they built a life defined by love, hard work, and dedication to their community. For over five decades, they proudly owned and operated Riojas Market, a neighborhood staple where generations of families were welcomed with warmth and familiarity. Bertha's kindness, memory for names, and genuine care made the market more than a business-it was a gathering place where everyone felt at home. After many years of service, Bertha retired, leaving behind a legacy that remains deeply felt in Soledad.
Bertha was a loving and proud mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She is survived by her children: Lisa Riojas and her husband Uso Faga, Raquel Clark and her husband Romano Clark, and Raymond Riojas Jr.
She is also lovingly remembered as the mother of the late Michelle Riojas (1972).
Her grandchildren brought her immense joy: Charles Ray Hernandez and his wife Desiree Hernandez, Tommy Elijah Moncivias, Michaela Hernandez, Lauryn Moncivais, and Romano Q. Clark.
Her great-grandchildren-Michelle Rae Hernandez, Charles Ray Hernandez Jr., and Jasmine Hernandez-were a bright new chapter in her life, filling her days with laughter and love.
Bertha is preceded in death by her parents, Oswaldo and Petra Luna; her daughter Michelle Riojas; her siblings Lawrence Luna, Mary Riojas, and Jesus Riojas; and many beloved aunts and uncles who shaped her early years.
Outside her home and business, Bertha was deeply committed to her parish and community. As a longtime YLI member. Her faith guided her, and her generosity lifted others. She attended and supported local celebrations throughout the years, always showing up in the quiet, steady way people came to depend on.
Bertha will be remembered for her loving spirit, her strength, and the way she cared for others with sincerity and grace. Her legacy lives on in her family, in the generations touched by Riojas Market, and in the community she served so wholeheartedly.
Her family welcomes relatives, friends, and community members to join them in honoring her life.
Bertha will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
